The biggest purchase here is going to be the GPU, and it should be seeing as it's your primary source of horsepower for gaming. While your CPU, Memory, and Motherboard can be bottlenecks on that GPU, the GPU is still going to be the biggest factor here. The only two single-GPU's I've seen handle BF3 maxed are the GTX 570 and 580's and they only got 30 and 40 FPS for 340$ and 400$ respectively. To play the game WELL you will need to buy a GTX 590 (750$) or SLI.

The cheaper option would be to keep that motherboard, upgrade the processor to a quad and overclock the processor and memory channels (read the channels, not the memory) on your motherboard to accommodate a high end GPU. (I mean any PCI-X GPU will work but the bottleneck will be your processor and the FSB).

This will be like 150$ plus whatever you pay for your GPU and gets rid of the SLI option, and finding somebody who knows what they're doing to overclock your shit. Upside of this is you can still upgrade your motherboard and ram later and still keep the GPU whilst putting in a minimum investment at this moment. Downside is compromising the life of your motherboard and processor, getting weaker performance out of your GPU, and essentially flushing that 150$ down the toilet when you upgrade later.

The other (read: better) option would be to upgrade your processor, motherboard, ram and GPU all at once and not deal with hardware tweaking altogether.

This will cost about 400$ (before your GPU) for a single-gpu or GTX 590 setup, and up to 800$ (before your GPU) for an SLI setup (Because you need beefier shit to SLI or it won't scale worth a damn). Upside is getting the most bang for your buck, having a good system out of the box, and having a reliable system. Bottom line you're looking at about 1100$ to 2000$ here, but similar systems from retailers will run you over 3000$.

But if you whitebox (custom-build) a 2000$ computer it will fly off the handle. It'll do some sort of acrobatic fucking PIROUETTE off the handle and win like a medal or some shit.

Also note that I've ignored ATI for this build because ATI can't run BF3 for shit.

Meh, I'm not saying whether it's a good investment or not. I'm just telling him what he needs to do to run that game.

Considering I could just dish a little bit out more for alienware (still overpriced) and get a PC that can run it on ultra for 2,000$ I think I'll pass on that XD

Btw Omega, thanks. I'll keep that in mind and look around

i think you missed my point bro

what im saying is that its pretty silly to spend 1000 dollars so yuo can sit infront of a screen and play some video games. go exercise and meet girls or focus on school instead of wasting a bunch of money so you can get fat and lazy playing a videogame

Man, you are full of hate.. My god. Instead of making people feel like shit on here go outside yourself. I enjoy my life but I also enjoy gaming. Deal with it. I just wanted a opinion. Again, thanks omega. Atleast he could give me a good answer. Now instead of telling every they suck try to be a little positive. Anyways, I got my answer so Im going to close this.
