my card is going haiware artifacts, graphic streches out etc, current using is x1900xt that is known for these problems. so whats a great uppgrade, my budget is 75-150$ running resolution 19" and playing mostly source games and kf.

The best 'price to performance'-option would be a Radeon 6850, but if you want to get away from the ATi reliabilty you're experiencing you can go for a GTX 460 which is slightly less powerful (won't be noticable in source games, I stll get 100FPS with full AA on my GTX260) and you get an Nvida which are generally more reliable. If you want something ABSOLUTELY CURRENT GEN you can go for the 550ti, less powerful than the 460, but boasts the newwest features that he GTX 500 series offers.
The 460 is 130 after rebates (150 before) right now and the 6850 is 140 after rebates (140-160 before). The 550 ti is around 130 without rebates and I honestly can't remember if I saw any rebates or not.

thnx. will look into it as another guy recomend 460 toOriginally Posted by OmegaZero_Alpha
I've been using this 465 for about 2 or 3 years now and it still is going strong. Temps get a bit high but that is because I am running dual monitors one of which is 1440x900. It came with a lifetime warranty too so even when it does finally croak I get another one for free.(I believe most nvidia cards now come with a limited lifetime warranty too.)
I was a commando you know.
The 6850 is a good card at the high end of your budget. It's been running bf3 on high for me like a champ.
I'm not sure about NVIDIA cards but you if really want the most for your money (For your budget) you should get a x750 or x770 HD Radeon. They're the best performing series under 140$. They're getting pretty cheaper too (110 the last time I checked) and are pretty mid tier right now. Good investment if you plan on playing BF3 and other resource hog games that will come out in the future.
From an ATI standpoint 6770's are less powerful than the 6850's.Originally Posted by AsianDollaPancakes

That's true but they're 150$+ USD (160ish for most of them on Newegg) right now. It really depends on how much your willing to pay for the next level of longevity. That said, if you do go out of the x700 range try to stick to xx50 & xx70+ cards. I've never had a good card under the xx50 series.Originally Posted by OmegaZero_Alpha
