Oh thanks! It's funny, I always feel obligated to say "Excuse you" or "Bless you" when people say that. Now I sort of understand but wonder the origin of this bizarre nonsensical word.

Actually, the word first came from a movie from the 90s, which was by the South Park creators; a year later they actually named a character Mr. Derp who was IN South Park, who yelled Derp! and was generally just stupid as hell.

I think he was pointing out that you had an unwarranted feeling of self-importance because you claimed to be saying the word "derp" before South Park.
