Are you going to say Operation Metro is a good map next? I was actually lucky enough to find out a Caspian Border server password before EA/Dice took them down, because people might have fun.
Operation metro is a sick map. you just probably suck at it.
If I wanted some random hallway shooter, it would probably be an okay map. It has almost no destruction and promotes sitting at some spots picking off people (aka camping). If I wanted I could get +10 KDR on that map easily, but it's probably not going to be fun for me.Originally Posted by mrmason
I only played Metro twice and found a really sick spot right behind a train which allows you to controll the entire hallway including the inside of the train if you stand up, the only way to get killed is if your entire team goes afk and an enemy goes through the entire other hallway and backtracks to kill you. It's a really bad map for BF, sorry. For me you just sound a bit jelly, because you didnt get to play Caspian Border - an actual battlefield map.
May I?

thats me playing. My youtube channel. And I didnt find that it was a good conquest map, . I'm not jelly, nice try though.
That still doenst make Metro a good map. I've played FPS LAN and online since ~2004, and it's if i'm totally honest one of the worst maps i've seen up to this date. I've almost no interest in ever playing on that map again, except for mods and it will definitely not be in my server's rotation. I'm not sure how it managed to make it into BF, the few non vehicle maps from previous BFs were mostly wide open areas and not hallways. The only thing that's worse than Metro would be BF 2142's airship layout. 1.5 entrances, unless you are lucky enough to bypass all turrets. 6 good sniper positions to monitor the entrances. Doors make Claymores invisible. But well, I guess these were designed so that 2 people can defend against 6-8 invaders.Originally Posted by mrmason
Maybe you could give your opinion on why exactly it's a bad map? Are you used to CoD's Square-with-3/4/5-lanes, square-with-+ and circle-with-X maps and cant grasp the concept of open maps? Would you rather have Brink's double-triangle Maps?
PS: How long did you wait for a jet? :P
I've never liked CoD, to put that out there. I have played a lot of the Bf series games more then any CoD. (Im a Bf fan)
Imo, Metro isnt a bad map. It would be much cooler if it was hardcore mode. I see no problem in it what so ever. Caspian Border on conquest is just too big, I barely got any action it just seemed very scattered. The only action I'd get was tank, jet and heli gameplay.
And I spawned in that jet at the start of the round.
Battleblog is stupid solely for the reason that you cannot launch the game and check your settings without joining a server.
Other than that it works fine and is a good addition.
Also the metro map was plenty of fun for me, still tons better than the shit-fests CoD is churning out. Not every map has to be wide open sniper-wars to be a battlefield map. Sometimes I don't want vehicles. Sometimes I want shotguns to actually be viable weapons.
Attacking dice for doing something new with their map design is just stupid. The hectic close quarters combat is incredibly refreshing compared to what is normally very wide open and easy to read/navigate.
Also the engine itself has made a huge leap. I was incredibly impressed by how well brush works as cover now as well as the fact that there is actually lens flare now. And all the new animation work they did.
I was a commando you know.
DID SOMEBODY SAY BF3?
I've never seen that happen -.-
