Re: Building Gaming PC [Need advice]
Case - Cooler Master CM Storm Enforcer: Should do the job!
Processor - Intel Core i7 2600K (3.4 Ghz): Best processor on the market right now. Excellent performance with a reasonable pricetag. In some gaming benchmarks it has actually beaten the i7 990x ($999 processor) Extremely easy to overclock as well.
Motherboard - ASUS P8Z68-V-ATX: Looks decent, I currently own an Asus Maximus IV Extreme motherboard - had no problems and all the motherboards I've had in the past have been from Asus.
Memory - G.Skill Ripjaws-X 8GB(2x 4GB) DDR3 KIT: The heatspreaders on these are quite large. The Coolermaster V8 may interfere with them (this point maybe negated if the RAM is moved into the far slots. Also, don't be fooled into buying the Really high MHz RAM or the low latency stuff (unless you have cash to burn) the real world difference is negligible.
Graphics Card - ASUS GeForce GTX 580 EVGA (1.5 GB): EVGA and Asus and both GPU manufacturers. I've got a few EVGA GTX 580 SC'd and they're great. I'd advise EVGA over Asus due to the lifetime warranty you get when registering with them (within a 30 day period) Overall, the 580 is an epic card, I shall say no more!
Main Hard Drive - Western Digital Caviar Black 1TB (SATA 6GB): I've got the very same one as my main storage device, Its decent and relatively quick.
Power Supply - Corsair TX-750 V2 750W Enthusiast Series Power Supply: Get the Corsair AX850, the TX series are a good few years old now. With technology, 99% of the time newer is better. I have the AX1200 and its done its job perfectly well - Handled an Overclocked CPU and 3x580's also overclocked, did so without any issues whatsoever. This said, the TX-750 is still more than capable of powering the PC you have in mind.
Watercooling Kit - Corsair Cooling Hydro Series H60 High-performance CPU Cooler / Cooler Master V8 CPU Cooler: The H60 and the V8 do the same job, which are you going to choose? I'd advise the h60 over the V8. Like I mentioned before, the heatspreaders on the ripjaws ram are quite tall and they may, not for definate, conflict with the V8 as its so huge. I have the H70 and the temps I've had at both load and idle (on a 2600k@4.6 Ghz) have been great. Also, there's no need for maintenance as the unit is completely sealed and tightly shut; preventing leaks too (highly unlikely to happen). The only issue with the Hydro series from Corsair is the noise that the stock fans emit. Its loud, I'd advise going for aftermarket fans if possible; superior cooling and less noise - Win, Win.
Operating System - Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium, 32bit - SP1: If you've got more than 4gb of RAM then you will be wanting the 64bit edition of windows. The 32bit limits the usage to 3.3Ghz and would render 4.7 Ghz useless.
Sidenote: You'll also need a DVD/Blu-Ray drive
