Sven CooP is a pain in the ass!!!

So I am slowly converting all of my freinds to the Half-Life scene, so I started them out on the first Half Life and set them up on Half Life 1, which they all love.

So when I mentioned that we could all play cooperatively, they all jumped at it, which meant setting up a Sven COOP dedicated server, complete with Metamod, Entmod, hookmod and Radiomod.

HOLY FUCKING SHIT, steam obviously hates sven coop, because I can't get the single player maps to load on my dedicated server ever since I installed metamod (they were working fine before) and every other map I try gives me some "ED_Alloc: no free edicts" and dies. like, what in the fuck are edicts? How do we free them? Political science? Shouldn't my server's 8 gigs of ram give me more edicts? Or would that fall to my server's processor, which is a 4ghz pentium 4 HT... (which is a lot for a 6 person server)

Or is this a problem with metamod itself, possibly the same problem that won't allow me to go into the single-player missions?
    /sarcasm

An edict is an announcement of a law, often associated with monarchism. The Pope and various micronational leaders are currently the only persons who still issue edicts.

basicly metamod is the dick to your tator

An edict is essentially an entity. The "no free edicts" is a limitation in the engine, not your computer hardware. I'm not sure what would be creating so many though. Try systematically disabling each plugin and see if it gets better.

well I got AMX installed and it stopped crashing, because I added a management mod that didn't leave empty, unusable and indestructible ents behind when you giveall with full ammo, which I can't install because vista seems to suffer paranoid delusions and (even though I am a full administrator with full control over every file on the computer) won't let me edit the plugins.ini. =FUN

I edited it somewhere else and pasted it, but the EntMover crashes AMX...

When you're an Administrator in Vista and you have UAC on, you're not really an administrator unless you "Run as Administrator." If you want normal XP style administrator back, turn off UAC.
