I fail as well, My 6600 gt doesnt like TF2 either, i find it bad to play on crowded servers with intense fighting, and my new card would have to be AGP as well. My mobo is pretty slow in the 1st place, 800 mhz fsb i think, so i dont think upgrading would do that well

that one is better, or if you are smart and use amd... than I shouldn't have to point you to a good motherboard, they are cheaper anyway.

Which PS3 do you have, I am loving my original 60gig now that games are coming out.

from just looking at the specs, i like the one i posted(krule recommended) better than the one you posted. Why do you say that one is better? Im and intel man btw

Dual lan and eSata are a plus, On-board Wi-FI. it has a slightly older chipset, and slowwer ram-speed, but the one your freind suggested is a bit stripped-down, and it is a pain to work around all of those heat sinks, and they are too close to the processor (with a stock heat sink, it will add heat to the processor, with a good heat sink they will get in the way. I can already see how my Zalman wouldn't fit due to the gnarly fucker above the SPDIF intput on the board and I would have to snap the POS in half). the one I posted also has analog audio input and another internal USB card slot.

new egg bosen't have the new nvidia boards though
i love this board, but its not exactly cheap, and it was made for use with the core2duo, and i know you wanted the quad

The mainthing that influences my desicion is the FSB speed. The one Krule suggested has a higher FSB speed. And doesnt FSB determining how fast data travels across your mobo? I apologize if i got that wrong, im still learning. I absolutely dont want ANY bottlenecks on this new pc, i want the best mobo and CPU i can get. I dont care about anything else. I want a badass backbone, i dont care about ram, gfx sound, optical drives, cooling or anything else. All of that i can easily upgrade when i have the money. Also a mobo under $250 would be great

I need something with 4 PCi-e slots, two of that one speed, and well...2 of the other speed.... See im at a lack of knowledge here.
I have the general Idea of what i want, but im not quite sure, and nervous becuase ive never built a new pc from scratch. I need to know what i want by tommorow, I have around $200 saved, and my girlfriend is chipping in the rest of what i need becuase shes just so f**king awsome

Ret, that is just the northbridge, and NewEgg does have it: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...i+SLI&x=8&y=31 AND, the main feature of this motherboard is abolished when they put that intel garbage in there, because intel isn't smart enough to use any sort of HyperTransport and is severely crippled by FSB... so until they release their little "QuickPath" bullshit we can wait on sticking a core2 into one of those.

Larz, the front-side-bus won't affect the speed of the processor, but it will affect the speed and amount of ram you can hold. if you are planning on sticking a shit load of ram in there, than yeah, go with the ultra-high front-side-bus. but 200$ isn't exactly "enthusiast" money (see my Ultimate PC thread for an example of an enthusiast's machine) , and bells and whistles can make or break a computer, I think we should start a thread for these issues (a brand new section would be awesome, too)

Ok ill tell you this. Im going Intel becuase ive used an Intel pc for years. Remember this is my 1st time building one from scratch, im going with what i know.

Im looking at getting a 2.4 ghz intel quad core.

I probably upgrade to 3 gigs of ram at the fastest speed the mobo will recognize....

what FSB speed would you reccommend with what you know of what im getting?

Keep an even number, I would reccomend getting either 2gigs or 4gigs. Always an even number of Identical sticks of ram, try to keep it at 2 sticks as 4 sticks will be slower that 2 yet faster than 1. This is because Dual Channeled ram is always twice as fast as single-channeled ram of the same size and frequency.

You also want to keep the ammount of ram's FSB into consideration. (for example, if you want 2 sticks of 800mhz ram, you need a 1600mhz fsb for both the motherboard and your processor) (don't quote me on this, but I think dual channel cuts your FSB requirements in half?)

Full ATX case, plug every hole with a good fan (get a window and some lights if that is your thing). I don't pick cases for people.
