Any game can have Steam overlay though the overlay can mess up the game a little. For example, if you use the steam overlay with any game that uses punkbuster (like battlefield bad company 2 and battlefield 2), punkbuster will think the steam overlay is a cheat and kick you out of the server for that.

Uh not on either of those since punkbuster fixed that problem a LONG time ago.
