600$s worth of garbage, neatly packed into a 12lb bundle.

So, I finally splurged on that new video card I have been needing for 3 years.

I AM PISSED. What in the hell is wrong with Nvidia? Do they not know what in the fucking hell they are building? I am getting ahead of myself, lets hear the whole story.

I saved up my money for a few months and finally got up a good sum of about 1700$, so I figured I would buy a set of good video cards. so I bought a pair of EVGA GeForce 8800GTX 768MB's. I figured this would go nicely next to my dual-core Athlon, so I installed it with the proper water cooling and got it running. But then I tried to install drivers.

THERE ARE NONE. There are only beta drivers for fucking 32-bit XP. WHAT IS THAT, WHO HAS THAT. After 12 hours of bullshit I realized that the poor depressed bastards at EVGA were unaware that 64-bit vista was released a year ago. I figured that this much money on cards, it is worth downgrading my OS.

Way to put a Giant VISTA logo on your box and then not support vista, retards.

I got Garry's mod up on XP, cranked it up with a 100-tick rate with 2100+ resolution, 8X AA, full quality everything, full reflections etc.

    THE FIRST CARD FUCKING E X P L O D E D!!!!!!!
WHO IN THE FUCK MAKES EXPLODING VIDEO CARDS?!!?!??!?!?!

They send me a second card, it didn't explode, but SLI doesn't work. I said that both of the cards were DOA, and got a refund. What a load of shit. They tried to not give me a refund, because operantly the prices are being cut in half in a few months, anyway.

I hate Nvidia. Tell me when the next-gen ATI cards come out.

you just got a bad card. They all have them. Nvidia doesn't only have beta drivers for the 8800's on XP either. So I dont know where you were looking. Also if you have Athlon you should be going ATI since they're both partners. Same with Intel and nVidia.

cooling doesnt effect how much power it can push out, that just effects how much stress you can put on it before it melts...

Watercooling takes stress off your card by reducing heat. In which you can then OC it to to put out more power.

in that case I would have gotten 3 bad cards, because the other 2 I had didn't work either. The first one I got was DOA, and the second one wasn't working before or after the one above it exploded. (could of been the first one not allowing SLI, and then it got damaged, but now I don't care as I don't want the buggy fuckers in my computer.)

And as for "they all having bad cards", THEY have too many bad cards, as I got 3 in a row, and I have heard of this same thing happening way too many times.

could also be the working enviroment, static electricty might be fucking over your parts, ya might try an anti-static wrist strap

Ive had 2 good working nvidia cards, and ive never had a problem.

I plan to get an 8800 with my new pc. Direct X 10 ftw
