So my friend's laptop is heating up pretty bad whenever he loads Starcraft or videos..."cpu running at 80 celsius graphics card at 110"
Any tips on how to fix this? Sorry for the vague post

Undervolt your laptop (read up properly on how to do it)
Compressed Air + Air Vents
Laptop Cooling Stand
Reapply Thermal Paste (hard to do)
Thanks! Undervolting it helped, improved a decent amount. The others seem hard - could it also be the heatsink?Originally Posted by ibby
If you mean the literal heatsink itself....no, if you mean the fans cooling the heatsink...possibly. Also a graphics card is required to do anything display related.

Using a compressed air can is super simple, if you have a few bucks to spare. Go to any computer shop, get a can of compressed air, and blow into your air vents/fans (make sure laptop is turned off, battery is taken out).Originally Posted by daem0n
Although some of the dust may go in deeper, most of the built-up dust will come out hopefully. Maybe search online to see if anyone has attempted it with your laptop model. My laptop temps went down by 15-20 degrees after doing this.
My laptop did the same thing after about 3 years of use. Eventually the fan just died. A cooling pad worked wonders, but after a few months it was no good any more either.
Good luck to you.

Integrated graphics is a non-dedicated gpu for budget builds that aren't going to do any gaming. Also integrated graphics will really hurt your speeds on any system with a low amount of ram.(which you shouldn't skimp on anyways because ram is so cheap)
