Apparently I can log in on it fine on my laptop, only thing I can think of doing is removing and reinstalling steam but I really don't want to have to re-download everything and I haven't backed up my local content on any of my games.

No, kidding. Did you have a custom skin or something that may have messed up in a recent update? Anyways, if you don't want to lose all your stuff and reinstall Steam do this:
- Close Steam.

- Go to you Steam install folder (ex: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam)

- Move steamapps and userdata out to somewhere else temporarily.

- Uninstall Steam.

- Delete anything left over in the Steam directory to be sure. Maybe check it out to make sure it's not something you want.

- Install Steam. Do not launch Steam. If it launches on its own, close it, whatever.

- Put steamapps and userdata back.

- Launch Steam and login.

AVG is captain false positive of the poor detection army. Firefox isn't a bad browser I just like Opera.
Use combofix(free) combined with super anti spyware. Or if you don't want to spend money avast isn't too bad I hear though I have never personally used it.

I started to use avast when I built my XPx64 system right after release. At that time, no other mainstream antivirus company supported x64 platforms, avast did and was free. I still use avast and like it. Also use the new ff tho still pissed they moved some shit around.
