The current state of TF2
There are three things that are currently in TF2 that, in my honest and humble opinion have completely ruined the flow of the game.
1) The Dead Ringer
Originally, the class of spy was all about stealth and subtlety. It took some skill and good gamesense to know how to be effective with the class. Then the Dead Ringer came along and changed everything. Now, spies walk around practically invulnerable, and instead of worrying about hiding well or blending in, they just run as fast as they can to the nearest ammo packs and refill their meters. They think they're good when they don't die for half an hour. I'm sorry, but not a single person on the other team wants to waste their time playing hide-n-seek the whole god damn round. When you use the dead ringer, and someone shoots you, usually they say "He's using the dead ringer." And you know what they do then? Fucking nothing. Because dying to your backstab and respawning is infinitely more fun than chasing you down and picking your health off little by little. The spy has gone from a stealthy dangerous foe to a herp derp annoyance. If you think that makes you good, please eat a bullet.
2) The Fists of Steel
What a broken, imbalanced, dumb fucking weapon. Know how to win any payload map now? Easy: have two heavies with the fists of steel ride the cart all day long. You'll never get close enough to melee them because the rest of their team will shoot you to death before you can get there. Or, better yet, you manage to get in melee range and take out your own melee, and he pulls out his gun and spins up and kills you before you can even change back to your own gun. You cant kill them because a direct rocket does 17 damage, and that fully charged headshot does 60, all of which is already refilled by the cart by the time you can get a second full charge. Know how to win any CP map? Do the same thing, but have a medic attached to your ass while you eat a buffalo steak. Now you're moving at scout speed, not taking any damage, and getting minicrits for fucking ever. If you do any of that shit when you play, I encourage you to swallow two fist fulls of magnets 2 hours apart from each other.
3) Engineer
No class in the game should be able to render another class completely and utterly useless, but that's exactly what the engineer does. Running scout on most maps is only viable for the first minute of the round, because after that, the other team's 4 engineers all have level three guns up that kill you almost instantly when you turn a corner. Anyone running scout after that first minute is usually spending his time chasing down Dead Ringer spies who have managed to bullshit their way back to the enemy spawn. In order to take down the autoaiming sentries with a damage output that makes my nuts hurt, you'll probably need some ubers. But oh wait, no one wants to play medic in a pub. So, the other team has 4 fucking engineers, and now you at least need 2 medics and 2 demomen to take down their shit. Now, unless you coordinate those ubers precisely, this is what's going to happen: Demo1 goes in, takes down a sentry, maybe two. Demo 2 manages to get one sentry too. That leaves one level three up, and all 4 engineers to rebuild all their shit to level 3 before your medic can get 50% of a charge. Imagine hydro without engineers: no more stalemates. You win because your team was better at killing the other team. Instead, every round ends in a stalemate because both teams turtle like motherfuckers and shit never gets done. Engineer is a class designed for girls. Valve knew that since girls suck at everything, that they'd most likely suck at aiming, too. So they designed a class where you can spend 30 seconds plopping down a stationary player with an aimbot and feel like you're playing a game. The reality is that you can put down that sentry, put down a dispenser behind you, get between them, pull out your wrench, type +attack and +duck into console, go watch the entire Lord of the Rings Trilogy, come back, and still be alive with 30 kills. If you're part of this problem, I want you to staple about $20,000 worth of $100 bills to your jacket and walk through some of the more lovely towns in the USA like Baltimore, Atlanta, and Detroit. If you can't afford that, call me and I'll gladly donate the money to see this happen.
All of that crap combined is what makes 6v6 and Highlander matches a thousand times more fun than your typical 32 man pub. That being said, every now and then you'll get a game where the teams aren't stacked to one side, there's a maximum of one engineer on each team, and no one is using retarded weapons, but that's rare.
The lie can be maintained only for such time as the State can shield the people from the political, economic and/or military consequences of the lie. It thus becomes vitally important for the State to use all of its powers to repress dissent, for the truth is the mortal enemy of the lie, and thus by extension, the truth becomes the greatest enemy of the State.
