I was a commando you know.
I REALLY REALLY want to get this game, but I REALLY REALLY want to wait on a price drop, also I'm assuming that my ancient PC will be able to run it right?
Since it's turned based I'm assuming I don't have to worry about 70 marauders and 300 zergling running around on my screen at once and causing my comp to brick itself.
Except that Civ V is CPU intensive to boot. Even at the lowwest graphics settings in a larger game it takes my quad-core about 10-15 seconds to load each turn.Originally Posted by Adder

Adder judging from the graphical quality of your screenshots, I don't like your chances.
It supports dx11, I have a feeling you can't run it.

it runs on my old dual-core AMD thingy with the 8600...Originally Posted by Snarf

Thanks for the some of the reviews. Tried the demo a few days ago and it seems alright. Nevertheless, I'm still going to wait until at least December so Firaxis can sort some of the bugs out.
I've been playing a lot and would have to agree, wait a bit.
The thing will drive your CPU into the ground later on during a game. I've had to wait 5 minutes between turns while it processes everything. Hopefully they can streamline things a little bit with some patches. I'll probably update my processor, motherboard, and RAM too.....
The A.I. during war could do with a bit of an intelligence boost too.
Deadroot, the best way around that problem I've found is to move a unit or do something else in another city. Eventually it'll work. However, if you're playing a LAN game it might take longer.
I ended up loading a previous save and the problem didn't come up again. Didn't really try the suggested workarounds, but it wasn't a big deal since my auto save happens every 3 turns.
The AI could use some help in wars. Was at war with one civ who was doing pretty well on defense, then another civ declared war on them as well. At first I was happy to get the help, but they were hardly any help at all. I watched them pretty much lose all their military units by rushing towards a city that would bombard them with city defenses and an archer fortified in the city. Not even sure if they killed any of the other civs units before making peace.
As for CPU loads and such, I haven't had too much trouble with it. Initial loads of games in the later stages take 1-2 minutes, but maybe 10 seconds at most between turns. I can post my computer specs later if you want something to compare to, but at work now and can't remember the details off the top of my head.
