    The Barren Wasteland of "General Discussion"

    So, I was bored last night and ventured into this place, the "General Discussion" subforum. I made a few posts that I thought contributed to the discussion and all of a sudden I have Snarf accusing me of "necroing threads" and Drunken_F00l insinuating something far more sinister. What am I going to do, dude? Go into a trade server and convince people to go first in a Paypal trade because I've got a high post count on a forum? Sell my account for a top hat and monocle? I realize you run this forum, but come on, man. Give me a break.

    So, what's the deal? This place is a complete wasteland, I commented on threads that were still on the front page because I was bored and thought this place might provoke a bit more discussion than threads on SPUF. If it's such a big deal, hey here's an idea, why don't lock the old threads? Many popular forum/BBS programs have the option to do this for you automatically. Sure, that means two-thirds of the post on the front page of the subforum would be locked at any given time, but I it would keep people from getting bent out of shape over nothing.

    you could just inject yourself into threads that are still fresh like every other poster with a clue on how an internet forum works.

    but instead you're going to try to troll everyone into taking you seriously in this thread
    The lie can be maintained only for such time as the State can shield the people from the political, economic and/or military consequences of the lie. It thus becomes vitally important for the State to use all of its powers to repress dissent, for the truth is the mortal enemy of the lie, and thus by extension, the truth becomes the greatest enemy of the State.

    I'm flattered that you chose to use your six hundred and sixty-sixth post responding to me.

    I'm not going to able play TF2 for the next few months, so I thought I would venture into other parts of this forum and get to know some of the people outside of just trading. I didn't realize what a barren wasteland this place was and that commenting on some threads still on the front page would lead me to be accused of god-knows-what. If everybody else is as uptight and prickly as you, I don't know why I even bothered.

    Yes well this forum isn't viewed as much as the TF2 trading ones and instead of posting on most of the forums on the first page in a couple of hours, you should just post on like 2 at a time or something.
    People just get annoyed when a new-ish person (dont mean to offend or anything) comes in and posts on lots of threads within a short amount of time.
    Although you have been on sourceop longer than me, I had another account a while back but decided to make another one because of the username.

    Hey, thanks for the non-hostile response. Like I said before, I'm not going to be in the game much for the next few months, so I thought I'd branch out and chat up some people in forums. That way I could still keep tabs on what's going on, and meet some cool people while I was at it. I didn't pay attention to the dates of the threads, and didn't realize how slowly this subforum moves compared to the trading subforums. I'm honestly at a loss as to what happened in this thread. What is your major malfunction, guys?

    But thanks for the advice, no offense taken. I'll be more mindful of the dates of the threads in this barren wasteland of a subforum.

    Its ok, we all make mistakes. I once bumped a thread that was 10 months old, and since I have learned to look at the date of the thread. It only takes a second or two and it makes all the difference between getting flamed and not being flamed.

    @talkingwires:
    I really don't comment much but

    Who are you and why are you here? You don't play on sop servers at all. You seem to be lost on the internet and wandered in here. Most of your posts outside of tf2items are to dead threads or complaining about posting in dead threads. Classic case (imho) of the tf2items section leaking again.
    Thanks.

    Oh, okay. I didn't realize this was some sort of private clubhouse. I'll let you kids go back to your little games, now.
