You may have noticed that getting valve trade banned will also get you banned on sop, if you get your trade ban dealt with, only then can you request your forum ban to be lifted (after your full cooperation into the incident)
Also if we find users new or not; dealing with unusually high volume or value items with suspect history or are dealing with new accounts and or obvious alts, we do issue bans with the reason "under review" In those cases, the user has to contact a sop admin, if everything checks out about said trades or dealings, they may be unbanned.
BUT AS THE RULES ALREADY HAVE SAID FOR A LONG TIME, MAKING AN ALT IS PROHIBITED AND WILL IN MOST CASES LEAD TO BEING PERMANENTLY BANNED ON ALL CURRENT AND FUTURE ACCOUNTS. SO DO NOT MAKE AN ALTERNATE ACCOUNT IF YOU ARE BANNED NO MATTER THE REASON.
Suggestion by one of our staff was to implement the no private profile/inventory rule as some other sites do now. I do plan on adding the previously mentioned brokering rule so maybe able to stick this in with that as well, have not decided yet.
@Angry_Kittens: We occasionally do a sweep of old threads that get moved to the "inactive section" as you can see, users cannot reply to these threads.
@GhixxSellin: Not sure how that would help; most scammers on sop build up "legit" rep before scamming anyhow (very difficult to identify these users if they know what they are doing) all the other types of scammers get banned too fast.
