I disguise as a friendly engi occasionally because scouts will try and get up in my grill and I can shoot their face off with my ambassador.
and why exactly wouldn't they have attacked you if you were undisguised
eh

they do, but FaN is terribad and they have to be really close.Originally Posted by Hell-met

Just a few things: Hell-met, Disguise may be mostly a sentry gun sheild, but its better to run at someone disguised then it is undisguised, the split second of hesitation from their teammates can be nice sometimes, true? And Cloak and Dagger is nice on defense imo, or on terribly ammo deficient maps with wide areas to cross(Turbine and TurtleFort come to mind)
Reynolds: Thanks for all the tips, and I realy try to avoid giving medics free ubercharge(Is there any reason to use the default bonesaw?). I try not to back into a crowd of people, prefering the alternate routes and coming behind them(Where the spy is useful).
Interestingly, I find the heavy disguise can net alot of kills if used sparingly, no one expects it and I can just meander along towards a chokepoint, beleivable behind the rest of the group, and chanistab my way to the front(Or die horribly cause of valves dodgy stab coding) I got 2 medics, 2 heavies and a demo once doing this.
Is there a way to reduce the chance of failstabs or are they outside of my influence? ANd any tips for the dead ringer? I can't stand not being able to cloak at will.
the only time I use the heavy disguise is when there's an enemy medic ready with uber, and I'm near the front lines. Call for medic, start running in, and a lot of times the medic will uber you. Of course if the medic has any awareness, this won't always work.
Not much you can really do about failstabs, other than messing around with your connection to reduce lag.
Dead ringer can be good on really hectic maps, like pipeline. Just know where the big ammo crates are, and move from one to the next. Also you may already know this, but you can intentionally trigger the cloak with dead ringer by jumping off of a ledge and taking fall damage with your DR out.
For me its all about the cloak and dagger. And typically I only disguise as spy - I've found there to be no speed reduction when disguised as spy. Speed plays an important role when trying to get those faster classes.
* Important note: Learn to strafe jump / bunny hop
If you're a smart spy - you can pretty much fool anyone at least twice with a disguise before they get aggravated and switch to pyro or catch on. You just need to learn to play the role.
As for friendly disguise - I don't use it quite as much. But when I do I usually disguise as friendly pyro. Most enemy spies will b-line it at the site of a pyro, especially when they are not cloaked. When they turn to flee...shoot them.
Oh, on that note - learn to use your pistol.
You can bunny hop in TF2? I thought you couldn't get any speed gains. Unless you mean just crouch jump all over like Hell-met.
Also, Dupleh, you use C&D. Just sayin...
Is this jump video fake then? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PshOzqgsjc8Originally Posted by Drunken_F00l
Well, I thought bunny hopping was pretty much strafe jumping. At least that's how it was introduced to me back when I played CS.
I never really crouch jump.
DF - C&D is the greatest.
