Your Top 5 Favorite PC Games of All Time

Post your top 5 favorite PC games of all time. You may give reasons to why these are you favorites as well as some additional honorable mentions.

    My favs:

    1. Diablo II / Diablo
    2. Team Fortress 2
    3. Starcraft
    4. Sim City 4 Deluxe Edition
    5. Fallout 3

    Honorable Mentions:

    Rollercoaster Tycoon 3
    Rise of Nations
    Age of Empires II
    Solider of Fortune II
    Garry's Mod
    Doom

The main thing that makes a game worth your money and more is it's playback ability and this is exactly what my list makes up.

The Diablo games are by far the most fun to me over any other PC game i've ever played. From the way you collect rare items and exploring dungeons and not to mention the awesome online multiplayer. The main reason this game has the highest playback is because of it's random dungeon generation, more games should be like this.

Team Fortress 2, my favorite FPS of all time and my second most favorite game of all time. This game never gets old to me due to the fact that you can play the game in 9 different ways. It's not just another FPS where u have a gun or different variations of guns you shoot the same way and have some grenades and different maps, and that's it. This game has 9 entirely different ways to play the game and the word "Team" in it's name is something that is needed to win and plot out how your team is eventually going to win the round/game. Source's voice chat has never been more useful than in this game.

Starcraft, i don't even gotta say anything about the greatest RTS of all time.

I've always been a fan of the sim city series and was heavily into Sim City 2000 and especially Sim City 3000 unlimited but when Sim City 4 came out I think they got it right and then some.

Though Fallout 3 is still a fairly new game, it has to be one of the best PC games i ever played of all time. I didn't even care too much about it before it's release when friends were telling me about it. I never heard of the series and was just like "I'll get around to playing it" when i finally did, man this game, that you play as an FPS but really is an RPG, just made me think, damn we need more games like this! Easy to play over and over again and have fun with it even though it is only a single player game.

TF2, SimCity 4, and Starcraft are good choices. I'd probably add Command and Conquer (not sure which) and maybe TFC or Roller Coaster Tycoon. Lots of hours wasted on all those games.

I made a post about top 10 RPG's of all time http://liti4.wordpress.com/2008/12/0...ten-best-rpgs/ a long time ago.

As for all games of all time this is hard but...

    1.) Chrono Trigger
    2.) FF7
3.) DarkAges (Nexon, now KruInteractive. NOT DAOC)
    4.) World of Warcraft
    5.) HL1 & HL2

I also note that it does say PC games and the first two weren't originally released on PC. However, when they were I've played them both through again multiple times. A game that's over 10 years old that can hold my attention more than most of today's games deserves a slot on my top 5.

    3. Word of Warcraft
    4. Sim Tower.
    5. Garry's Mod
    ____________________________________
    1. Old classic that I grew up with, I still play it, and It still great game.
Tho sadening side is that Find players to play with thise days is REALLY hard. But there is small community of people still playing it, wich is good.
seeing that this 10 years old game is not totaly dead.

    2. NIce FPS wich has meny way to play, 9 classes you can be Agressive or Passive, Defeding or Offensive with. With the good teams its amazing gaming experience. But still as every FPS has this proplem Idiots screw up the game, just like players that are really good and like to play at one side.

    3. World of Warcraft, Yes... The Famous "No Life" " Nerd Game " tho people who make fun of it and say it a bad game never achieved their way to the good end-game guilds with good community spirit, this is the only reason I still play this game and I have played over 4 years already.

But I still think that the Original "Vanilla" version was better, In their stupidity Blizzard have greedly released content too slowly with stupid upgrades making them run out of Lore-space. This game will die soon just and only because the greedyness of Blizzard.

    4. Sim Tower, Simple fun game that you can waste lot of time with. Old classic that will never get old. Tho I would like new upgrade to it.

    5. Garry's Mod, I like sandboxes allows you to mess around have fun, waste your time and Use you imagination. Tho getting most out of this game takes alot of practice and experience, But I still find it fun to Roleplay with good Community in this game.
    __________________________________________________ __________

    Other games...
    Sim City 4000,
    Diablo 1/2
Classic Team Fortress, (I exluded this away from my Top5, b's the Statics show that only 500 people play this game enymore so it is kinda dead.)
But this is a game I grew up with again, I loved the Adventure maps and GOOD old Well map.

I'm going to expand this question slightly to include ANY computer games(not just PC). In ascending order.....

    5. Everquest.

I spent countless hours on this just exploring such vast world. To be able to finally interact with hundreds of others in a D&D type setting finally solved a problem of my childhood(who will play D&D with me?)

    4. Tie Fighter, and by extension, X-Wing/X-Wing Alliance

Being able to finally fly as the rebels/Imperials was a dream come true for many a Star Wars geek.

    3. Blood by Monolith(but not Blood 2)

A gritty 1st person shooter with endless dark humor throughout that whole series. This game I enjoyed so much that I played it once a year for over 6 years before I dropped WIN 95 in 2003.(don't ask)

    2. Alternate Reality City/Dungeon for the Atari 8 bit XE system.

You're best off simply looking this up on Wiki since it'll take too long for me explain. One of the first truly open ended games where you had to watch over a dozen aspects of your health(poison, disease, fatigue, hunger, thirst, heat, cold, etc etc) Also came out with several technological innovations years before their time, such as raycasting, well before Wolfenstein 3D. The Atari 8 bit also produced music not thought possible with its hardware limitations.

    1. Ultima IV on the C64(and the ones I DID finish, V, VI, VII(parts 1
    and 2)
Ultima IV needs no explanation. It has received its kudos from virtually every media quarter. This game really immersed me into RPG games and has left a lasting impression on me like no other game every made.

    Honorable mentions go to,

CS/TF2: Hey, I can frag peeps online now! And talk to cool people online!
    *cough*

Tunnels of Doom for the TI 99-4A: My first ever RPG/dungeon crawl game on a computer.

Panzer General series: Now I can finally play wargames against someone else.

    Loom
    The Neverhood
    Jones in the Fast Lane
    the Jedi Outcast series
Zak McKracken and the Alien Mind Benders
    WarCraft II

I would put these under "most fun" rather than "best."
