I have so many sound replacements. Just go to FPS banana they have a replacement for almost every sound in the game.

Grats, there is absolutely no point to that.

Except for the fact that they make the game more enjoyable to some people. Some of the sounds I have I personally think are superior to the originals in every way, such as a deeper minigun sound, and an announcer that doesn't piss me off every time I hear it. Saying there is no point is pretty stupid when there are thousands of people who say otherwise daily.

And unfortunately they can be abused. Having a max volume spy uncloak noise for example.

Hmm, I never even thought of that. While that does sound shitty it isn't hard to believe people would abuse sound replacements like they do texture replacements. I guess the simple truth is that there are people who do it for fun and people who do it to be shits.

Of course, because games always do EVERYTHING perfectly, and never create content that can be dry *cough OBLIVION cough*

It isn't like players often contribute a great deal to making the original games better than they were *cough cough OBLIVION*

And it most certainly isn't like the original games can be downright terrible without at least some, if not a large amount of user content content or anything. *OBLIVION*

But certain specific games aside, (oblivion), i do use a lot of custom content for TF2 as well, because in my opinion some of the sounds should be removed completely, like the announcer, and other sounds can be replaced with betters, like Madmin's example of the Heavy's gun.

But I even replace models, because I personally enjoy seeing an engineer that looks like he's been actuall working on machinery, or seeing a new outfit design, because I don't think the default ones are that great.

The "point" of getting custom anything in a game, is at its most basic form, because it gives the player more enjoyment, and more fun. It allows them to make the game their own, and to create a unique and interesting experience.
