Since this thread, I have only been able to drop by the reg 2fort serer twice (because it was only populated 2x during the times I checked) Ill still hop on it tho if I see more then 2-3 people playing.

You're missing the point. It's empty because it's completely not admined... lol... Vanilla TF2 is a good game... When someone mentioned it was "boring" they were referring to the lack of teamplay and constant spam that insta-spawns have...In my eyes (and this is just my opinion, not that of the rest of the admin staff) it's an empty server, and empty servers don't need admins. There's no work to be shared. There's no 'the admins on this server suck, they never respond to issues' because there are no issues. There's nothing an admin can add to make that server not empty (if it was a server with a rotation, sure, they can change maps). If the server was populated, sure, I would personally think maybe regular should be bumped to admin. It just has to get populated for more than 3 hours a day though.
The point I raised in the 'Shut down the servers' thread stands. This is not Valvemaps #1 where a rotation change can breathe new life into it, and not Insta where another admin might help matters. NoMod needs to change to a different game type to become populated (MGE, a CTF rotation, whatever).
tl;dr:
Packed =! Not Boring

Open invite to a full server as we speak...
It wasnt completely full, but yes, most of the day it was populated. It's also Saturday.
An admin can't populate a server by magic (curling, or energon cubes). So clarify what you expect an admin can do to remedy the situation, and then maybe we can understand your point.
Further, it's not 'completely not administered". Butane said he joins when he sees people on, and contact admin works there as well.
And I was on today,
I kicked a known scammer who rejoined and was kicked again, then temp banned him.
A server regular dropped the "n" word so I said watch the language in chat.
Not much else needed while I was on.
@bbq: And I hope you were not serious when you said you would support the votekick of the bad sniper who was on your team just because he was bad (admittedly a really bad sniper), I mean if the server was full you could possibly argue he was taking up a spot, or if he was otherwise breaking a listed rule http://forums.sourceop.com/threads/1...Rules-and-FAQs , but the server was not full and you mentioned you votekicked someone for a similar reason earlier in the day. On the PH server, I pretty much had to deal with the same situation of letting server regulars know they cannot kick just because the user is new or is a "bad" player.
Thanks.
Haha... Actually, it does makes sense... You're just too myopic in your thought and unwilling to change your mind about the server.
The server has had numerous behavioral problems in the past and things rarely get done when an admin is contacted. Do you recall when the server used to be filled all the time? People find other servers when there's no one caring about the server. True story.
Who was the regular who dropped the N word? I'm just curious.
So your argument is when the server was full over a full year ago (I checked) there were issues. There were also a lot fewer admins. So yes, if the server was full now, as it was then, and we had more admins than we had then (which we do), there would be fewer issues.
Which goes back to my original statement - if the server is full and we still have issues, then more admins make sense. We have more admins now than there were in the great long ago, and adding an admin to look over an empty server won't fix anything, and until it isn't empty anymore we won't know if another is truly needed (but might be).
No, it doesn't. Let's say the server was "completely not admined" (which still isn't true), that wouldn't make it completely empty like it is most of the time. If anything more randoms would be on it and liking it knowing they can do whatever the hell they want without repercussions.
No Mods No BS has done nothing but decline in the past 4 years I've been playing with SourceOP. It's never been as popular as the Instant Respawn server. Poor use of 'myopic' as well.
The Dopp - It's pointless if they don't respond, nor care about the server. BBQ has even said that he's messaged admins who were in-game elsewhere and wouldn't do anything about the players causing problems. Admins don't seem to accept friend requests either (my personal experience).
We ask for a simple fix by adding an ultra-responsive admin who does care about playing on the server. He knows more about how that one server alone operates more than anyone who could post, and you guys refuse to take point to what we (the players who actually play there) are saying. Out of everything posted in this thread, that's the thing not making sense.
Its SOP's servers though, run them how you like. I don't think we're being unreasonable in what we ask. The topic is almost dead at this point, sadly, since the admin staff is not seeming to budge. The "empty servers don't need admins" argument doesn't fly, though... We commonly need them when we play there.
I will also add, that subtle changes could be made to the server to increase its traffic.... For one, capitalize on it being a "very tough" server to play on. I can go 5-8:1 elsewhere and go like 2:1 at best on SOP. People enjoy a challenge.
At the very least, turn on votekick, voteban, and teamvote again.
LOL. Instants are more popular? No kidding... Most players prefer to go full-retard the entire game with insta-spawn, rather than put effort into team play and survival and suffering the penalty of waiting 20 seconds after dying.... I'm also willing to bet the average player age on the instant server is much younger and there's less competitiveness and strategy (as I've experienced so far). Twenty seconds is a long time in the game; it puts a high value on survival, and there are players who enjoy what what that penalty adds to the game... Since the average TF2 player is pretty young, it doesn't shock me that default spawn times aren't popular... Do you want to capitalize on what other servers don't have? (A 32-man vanilla server with a base of skilled, older regulars) Or do you want to put up another server that's to be found everywhere else? Instants are a commodity since they are so widely prevalent.... A dime a dozen!
I'll say again, could easily make subtle changes to build more loyalty on the No Mods, No BS server and it would increase its traffic & regular player base....
Uh.... So..... With everything said, I'm not sure if you understand the meaning of 'myopic' or not... If you're trying to rustle my jimmies, you're not making yourself look too intelligent in the process.
