Seriously, WTF is up with Steam Support? And what can be done to fix it?
Two weeks ago, August 29th to be exact I get a message my account has been restricted for Violating the Terms of Service.
Like MC Hammer, I'm too legit to quit so I'm like why the face and I fire an email to Steam support thinking this can quickly be resolved. Well, two weeks later all if have is the obligatory "Thank you for contacting Steam Support. We are investigating this issue further. As soon as we have more information, we will update your ticket"
It's September 12th now and I'm still restricted. I have about $2K worth of items just sitting idle in my BP. I invested close to 2000 hours actively trading and being a fair community member this past year, plus I contributed quite a considerable amount of $$$ during the winter crate and scorched crate events from Steam and this is the thanks I get? Not cool man.
Steam is worth several billion dollars as per the recent New York Times Article, they can invest in a proper customer support department.
They completely cock block all means of escalation which is absurd, and as much as I hate to, I find myself having no choice but to stop collecting and start liquidating once this situation is worked out. In the end they are going to lose my support. It shouldn't be like this but after this experience I need to mitigate my investments into the community. It sucks but I have no other choice after this experience. When they put a restriction in place they should have been adequately prepared to respond to my request for an explanation, similar to due process, and yes, as I paying customer I feel that I am entitled to it.
What really irks me is that the more I look into this, the more it seems to be common practice for Steam to restrict and not respond promptly. Someone needs to land Steam back to a reality check where they need to start putting their customers first when it comes to support.
I'm curious at this point, how many other people have been through this and what have they done to resolve?
