I was once added by a random person to pricecheck their unusual. Turned out to be a burning kabuto. Even though it was a dupe. Almost traded my blizzard TC for it but told him instead to watch out for scammers and set his profile to private.

I am intrigued to hear more, mainly because I am confused.Originally Posted by theone13864

How do you not expect to deal with the worst greed in the game when people are always trying to buy low and sell high?
I get taxed for collecting craft #51 hats all the time.
It gets so bad that it is cheaper for me to get a lower craft #22-42 and trade them for the craft #51 because they know I want the #51 for my collection.
So I turn their greed around by telling them they can get way more for a lower number and that I will not pay the price they are asking they can take the lower number from me or try to get the way over priced amount from someone else.
As for Unusuals even with the 1:1 or holiday items your stuck dealing with the greed or high priced item then it is better to pass on it and find something else or try not to feel the buyers remorse if you do spend on it.
I hate to say it but you can not deal with a community like this and not expect ego's, assholes and worse. I am sure you have also got to meet great people and make some great friends.
I agree no need to deal with drama I would not trade with anyone who was an asshole about it and there has been to many to count.
I'm with you on this. Also not to do a cliché "those damn kids"-post. But I think one of the reasons is that a lot of traders just don't have any real life experience on that matter.
Take your example if I contact you with a sale than the natural thing would be to expect you to pay less than the market price or if you're a collector not more than it. If you contact me requesting a sale I could at least expect the general market price but not insane amounts above it.
Firm prices, no haggling, overpriced items, raging about "lowballs" these are all signs of unexperienced or maybe really, really tired traders haha.
Another point would be Eastern European users and users from generally poorer countries. I thought about this and to think that some can make a bit on the side or even a better living overall just by playing/trading in a computer game...it's only natural that it brings out the greed in people if they realize how easy it can be.
And of course that might not be the majority but I bet it's a good portion of said crowd.
