I remember reading an article in Playboy many years ago(yes, I do read the ARTICLES in Playboy once in a while)entitled the unofficial dealing with police. I won't go into all the details, but depending on how rushed you are, it is in YOUR BEST INTEREST not to piss off/act like an asshole around cops/law enforcement. You do not have access to the information that cops might have. They may be just pricks or they may be searching for a wanted criminal and they do have to check out the area and everyone around(but they don't need to tell you that).
The article DID go on to say that you should keep track of everything that is said/done and if a violation of rights occurs, go into a lawyer and deal with it that route. If a judge determines that a violation did occur, then the offending officer will be formally reprimanded. Similar to a front line in a warzone, you have a job to do and not time to quibble over every law that comes up. The time for recriminations comes later. The system >IS< supposed to weed out particularly bad officers who continually violate rights and freedoms. Remember your right and exercise them, but arguing with an officer in the line of duty is just going to piss them off and they will treat you more harshly.
the guy was simply an idiot, he says that there was no grounds for suspicion whilst FUCKING VIDEO TAPING THEM! If somebody came through with a video camera and refusing to answer a simple question I would rip that guy out of his car for obstruction of the investigation of a federal agent, break his camera and deport him.
/sarcasm
agreed, and by the way for anyone who has investigated the law. The guy in the car was wrong. plain and simple. video taping people without their permission is iffy enough, and is grounds for suspicion. Just because one isn't being detained doesn't mean they are free to go. say if i were an illegal alien and approached that checkpoint. I pull up and say "am i being detained?". they are of course going to answer no, until they have a reason to detain me. then they ask if im a citizen and i answer "am i free to go?". this is not a fool proof way to get through a checkpoint like he seems to think it would be. my brother (the lawyer in the family) and i just went through a few of the videos this guy did, and so far he has seen nothing that the officers did that was unlawful.
but what does this have to do with alltalk after the match ends?

Yeah, the vid wasn't really in context with this thread, but it is unconstitutional for a citizen to be detained without suspicion or warrant, so I'm glad this guy is doing what he's doing.
