There's no visual or stench (lmao) differences between a burning tossle to another burning tossle. The absolute only difference is the item ID - who the hell plays TF2 just to check item IDs? That analogy is pretty much moot.
The only thing that the word "dupe" is being used in the community now is to pick holes in a hat trying to make the owner feel guilty of something, and getting it cheaper. It's just scummy tactics.
Okay i have to admit my analogy was pretty bad lol.
BUT, a real rolex watch and a fake rolex watch do EXACTLY the same thing, but one has a real brand ID and the other not.
A real burning tossle and a duped burning tossle do EXACTLY the same thing, but one has a real ID and the other not.
See my point here?
People want genuine and real hats, not fake copies that have been wrongly obtained. (much like a fake rolex)
That's a bad analogy again.
You don't buy a rolex to know the time. You buy it as an investment, status symbol and because of the craftsmanship. A fake rolex has a lot worse quality and someone who is knowledgeable of watches will instansly recognize it as a fake. A dupe is a 1:1 copy. A perfect clone sharing the same history. It's a digital item. Both are given to you by valve. It's more as if your watch got stolen and rolex makes the exact same copy of it with the same ID. Without a 3rd party program like TF2items you would never know that an item is duped. Yes the level is the same but not all hats with the same level are dupes. Some people in the tf2 community just like to obssess over things. I guess they have ocd.
I can understand that collectors want to own "clean" items but again, get hijacked once and bye bye to the cleanless of your hats.
