Getting into is easier if you find a good bit-mining group. Wider acceptance would make this easier and it would be pretty cool to see TF2 groups purposed for this.

Plus the more people in the TF2 community used it the more who would come, I mean if anybody could install it and get two or three pieces of scrap metal, or an item or two JUST for plugging into a faucet then people would at least have incentive to try it.

The mining problem is the hardware requirements. Nvidia cards are out of equation - I pass on details -, and only ATI cards since 5770 are worth for mining.

I surely can give 1 rec or even 1 ref to newcomers, but people have to show me that they managed to get some bitcoins in their wallets, and so they will seriously use them.
That's because getting a blank wallet itself is as easy as installing the client from bitcoin.org, and I don't want people to abuse the giveaway by taking the rec and then uninstalling the client - for simply installing the client I can gift the 0.001 BTCs as stated above.
After all the hardest part is getting the first btcs, and that's what I want to incentive

I got hit with a chargeback a few weeks ago ($70), I don't know how solid was your proof about the trade but I was able to pin the motherfucker after I got in contact with other two guys who had also been hit by the same retard and gave PayPal the numbers from the other two disputes alongside a huge amount of pics about our conversation, trade, trade history, inventory and the fact that he admitted receiving the item hours after he submitted the dispute.

But yeah, PayPal can swing both ways just like they said to me on the e-mail I got.

Bitcoins are still alive? I remember how once it was very easy to mine them a mid end ati gpu was enough to make 50 bitcoins per week. Now it should be almost impossible without a rig consisting of several high end graphic cards. I had still 2 left and deleted them because they dropped to like 3€.

Chargebacks really are a bitch. I luckily never had to deal with one but I am always afraid of one happening. It angers me that its so simple to do. The buyer should provide solid proof. And its funny how even a gift sent with a note "blabla i wont charge back" wont prevent a chargeback. Paypal should validate accounts through post ident (postman visiting you to check your identity) so If a scumbag chargebacks you you can visit him and beat him into a pulp.

I don't see a problem with bitcoin value. Let's say 1 BTC = 1 cent. You just use more of them, to achieve the value needed. However, with actual value, your 2 btcs are worth 5 keys and 1 ref. If you still have the wallet.dat (it survives a simple uninstall ) you can recover them.
Until they are stable on long runs, and a seller masks daily fluctuations as I said before, there is really no problem

Bitcoin won't disappear simply because it's inner value is the 0 fees, 0 chargebacks and total control over your account/wallet.
No one can "freeze" your money, while today paypal and even banks can lock in your money.
It's born for online transactions, and it shines with them.

I am never afraid of chargebacks. Just think about it.

Why paypal should pay someone to bother every single user privacy? Even if it happens, it would only increase the fees.
And even if they do verify, they can't disclose to you the address.

Paypal started with ebay. On ebay, you send physical items, so you already know the address. But sellers are already covered there, because it's enough for them to show a tracking number.
So, when you use it for the aim it was made, both buyer and sellers are covered. They make you pay this through fees, but it's ok in that case because it leaves both minds free from problems.

By using it with tf2 "gift trick" it's only unnatural, a way to try to bypass paypal policy, expecially the seller-pays-fees one.
You lose chargeback protection, because you are not using it the right way.

Now, even if paypal verify address and so on, the scammer just needs to go to police and denounce the stolen card. If someone asks, he will provide a copy of the minutes.
This chargeback can't be stopped even by the "gift trick": the $$ are removed from paypal itself and nothing will stop them to plunder your account, because it's not REALLY yours, it's theirs. Just think about it.

Even if you don't want to use bitcoins, you could ask for a bank transfer, and get full reference of the sender.
You can also use the GPG postal verify I explained before to know the address, and still use paypal. You can send some little thing to that address, and you even have a tracking number to show to paypal, and be covered by official seller protection.

You have many options, so you can say that if you stick with using paypal with tricks, stick on not verifying other's address, you can't blame anyone.

Paypal won't change it's policy because it works well when used as paypal is meant.
