    Upgrading and Installing RAM

Okay so I have 2x 4GB sticks of RAM on an "ASRock H61M-S" motherboard with an i5 2500k processor.
Dont laugh at me but how many RAM slots does this motherboard have?
I've heard some have 4 slots so could I chuck another 2x 4GB sticks of RAM in?
If it only has 2 slots, can you get 2x 8GB?

And last but not least, how the heck do I go about installing it myself if I do purchase more? (Comp. technitians cost too much lol)

    Thanks for any help.

Oh and this is the RAM I have:

Open up your case, look at the ram(I assume you know what ram looks like).
Are there more slots? There is your answer. Yes you can just put two 8gb sticks of ram in.
If there are more here are some do's and don'ts for motherboard ram upgrades.
Do: Check the manual to see if there is any specific order for your ram to be inserted, assuming you are not filling it up completely.
Do: Check and see if your motherboard is triple channel or dual channel. If you have 4 slots you are likely dual channel while 6 slots will usually means triple channel. Check the manual or manufacturer to make sure. You can never go wrong just filling it out.
Don't: Add extra ram without filling out the rest of the board, if you have a dual channel with 2 sticks in don't add a third until you have a fourth. This can slow you down further rather than speed you up.

Installing ram is generally fairly easy, depending on which type of ram you are buying ddr2 or ddr3.

If you have any other questions I suggest searching around ncix tech tips for tutorials, they are generally very good.

    Thanks Snarf.
I found this video of the motherboard and if you pause at 2:04 it looks as if there is only 2 slots http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gh7EXmHb9yo

Are they the RAM slots? I couldn't seem to find anything else.

Yeah those are ram slots. Depending on what you do two 4gb sticks should be more than enough to play anything released for quite awhile.

Be careful, most motherboards dont accept more than 4gb per slot as they have a factory set max and 8gb sticks havent been around for long
