The new system seems to be the result of a couple things. An influx of new players, people abusing the old system with achievement server bullshit and valve's desire to keep the game "casual", whatever casual means.
For people like me who play just to play and ignore the achievements this is awsome because im a medic 95% of the time.
I don't understand how this would be beneficial to you. You are receiving unlocks for items/classes that you don't even play...
The old way was fine. You play the class(es) that you like and through game play you end up getting the achievements and unlocks. Sure their are people that will get around that and go to great depths to complete the achievements and get the unlocks, but big deal. There is a loop hole in everything, they are just ruining it for themselves. It's like cheaters getting around the VAC system.
This is ridiculous...I can't even gain 1 freaking unlock even though I have completed all the achievements and played countless hours/days.
