Hi, my laptop has been overheating alot lately, since i bought Garry's mod (GMOD) which was at a night before, that one hour it ran perfectly before i went to bed, the next day it started to overheat/get very hot at the bottom, i have no idea what could cause this problem, since i could play TF2 even though it wen't hot sometimes, Here's my specs:
My Laptop is a Acer ASPIRE 5750G
- Intel® Core™ i7-2630QM 2GHz with Turbo Boost Up to 2.9GHz
- NVIDIA® GeForce® GT 540M, Up to 1760MB TurboCache™
- 15.6 HD LED LCD
- DVD-Super Multi DL drive
- 6 GB DDR3 Memory
- Acer Nplify™802.11b/g/n
- 640 GB HDD
- 6-cell Li-ion battery
I'd appreciate if anybody would peek in and take a look and try to help me sort out this problem![]()
Thanks.
I would also look at the processes it is running. Extra processes require more CPU time and thus power. This generates extra heat which you are experiencing. Go to task bar and right click then open task manager. Select the processes tab at the top and then watch what is running. Steam and the HL2 will be using alot when active. Windows explorer will show as "explorer.exe" and will be using around 70 K of memory. Firefox has become quite a hog lately and mine is hovering around 170 K depending on how many tabs open. I can't really give specifics here because I don't know everything you have installed on your system. I look at CPU and Memory usage in task manager to start to zero in on suspect processes. Make sure you know what you are killing here as a wrong move will force a reboot; permanent changes are difficult to make in task manager. To do that you would have to edit the boot file....
