Some modifications are novel, some are pointless, some are so minor you don't really know or care, some are strictly administrative and some are simply amazing and spawn huge and dedicated followings. Kind of like Team Fortress or Counter Strike.

That said, I can't think of many TF2 maps I've played that aren't Valve made (or Valve approved?) that have ever really wow'ed me.

So I'm with you, but I'd take it down to more a matter of personal taste (and I'd be willing to be surprised; at 35 I've been wrong about a lot of things). Smile
