Well I consulted with Kaylee and she quoted Napoleon and said:
"Never attribute to malice that which can be adequately explained by incompetence."

But to follow that logic, it was his incompetence that resulted in the server not being crashed, therefore his lack of malice would have been directed at his friend, for failing to crash it in the first place.

By Napoleons logic he attempted to crash the server, only his failure can be attributed to incompetence.
