Spend less money on stupid Razer things and more on RAM. My parents iMac has more than that.

8GB is plenty of RAM. I know more doesn't hurt, usually, but if you really want to speed up the system, spread the memory over more slots so data can be stored and moved faster. 4x2GB is faster than 2x4GB, for example.

I thought about getting a DeathAdder mouse a few days ago, but I went with a generic brand, V7, that was less than half the price. I don't need the most amazing mouse ever, I just need a mouse that doesn't suck like my generic Dell mouse.

The laser vs. optical debate is an old one, but I say laser is better. Laser mice work on practically any surface, while optical mice are very picky about the surface. If you have a colorful or shiny mousepad or just a desk, optical mice might be jumpy. Laser mice are generally more precise.

Now, many sites sell optical mice as laser mice. This is a classic rip-off. I did not think about this when I ordered my mouse, but I honestly do not care if it is laser or optical, as long as it works well and feels comfortable.
