Just to future squash the idiocy of "but it is only one cut and paste." Here is a list of rules that I had to develop after the last informal match I hosted. Most of these rules are common sense but they were all ISSUES BROUGHT UP by the two teams. Communicating all this crap on a consistent basis is exausting. It is also on going as their is new crap to communicate. It's nice to know that people are responsible for their teams and can work out as much information as possible on their own. They after all want to be apart of the league, right? In ironic fashion, I have cut and pasted these for you.
- The rules -
Preapproval
• Two players may be submitted for a match but those two must agree to be the captains of the perspective teams.
• The two captains must ensure that both teams are adequately informed of times, connection information, and additional information posted in the forums.
• Administrators are available but will only communicate with a team admin when necessary. The administrators should not be bothered with providing information for participating members of the two teams.
• Team leaders must agree with match rules prior to going forward with a match. All agreed upon rules will be set in stone going forward. NO CHANGES will be made.
• Standard rules included:
• A melee battle between the captains preceding the match to decide which team gets to pick offense or defense starting the match. The class and equipment used must be the same and agreed upon prior to the match. If one team captain deviates from the agreed upon equipment then they forfeit the choice to the opposing team. All additional team members must remain in spectator mode for the battle and join their correct side after the battle.
• Tournament mode will be enabled to ensure the team that pushes the cart in the fastest time will be the winner.
• The match can either be a one round or three round event. This is to be agreed upon prior to the match by both captains. No more than three rounds will be allowed for each event.
• The event can include a viewing option (for spectators) but this must be agreed upon by both team captains.
• The number of players on each team must be agreed upon prior to the match
Match Prep
• Teams members and substitutes must be worked out at least one week prior to the event. There will be no unknown substitutes for the match.
• Any person previously banned from the servers will not be allowed to participate in match events. No exceptions!
• If the teams go with a viewing option for the match and desire commentators then that/those person/s must be agreed upon at least one week prior to the event. The administrators will not constantly remind the teams of these deadlines. The team captains are expected to keep up on these deadlines.
• Any team member with bans on record will only be allowed to participate if the opposing teams captain agrees with their participation. After the rosters are set (one week prior to the match) a team will not be allowed to request a removal of a team member.
Match
• All participants must show up at least 15 minutes prior to the event. If a person is not on time then a substitute will be expected to take his/her place. If the team does not have any substitutes they will be allowed to play the match with less players or forfeit the match. In short, it will be the team leaders responsibility to get all players in on time because the match will start on time.
• Players on the roster may be allowed to connect after the match has started. Players not listed on the roster may not join in on the match.
• If a player's game pauses or freezes then the match may be paused for two minutes for the game in order to allow the player back into the game. If the player is not back in the allotted time then the match will resume and the player can rejoin upon reconnection. If the player is unable to come back the a substitute will enter the game. Each team will be allowed three pauses for the match after those are used up then the match will continue uninterrupted regardless of disconnects/reconnects.
• Participating members must conduct themselves in an orderly manner this includes refraining from text spamming, name calling, abusive remarks toward the admins, or mic spamming. Anyone violating these rules will be removed from the match and a substitute will take their place. If the team has no substitutes then they can continue with less players. If three people from a team violates the rules then that team will forfeit the match.
• Any team member caught cheating will be removed from the match. A substitute will take their place. If the team has no substitutes then they can continue with less players. If three people from a team violates the rules then that team will forfeit the match.
• An administrator must be present during the whole match.
All of these rules must be complied with to ensure a hard fought match with good sportsmanship. Rules are subject to change.
