Don't talk like I don't know what I'm doing, I shoot people with pipes all the time, but if I am already in melee range of a soldier then using pipe launcher instead of a melee weapon is stupid. And how would it be different if I shot them with pipes first? If I get them to almost dead then try to finish with the eyelander but they can still just one shot me?

The idea that a soldier with equalizer should never be approached by any class regardless of the weapon is stupid and is why the equalizer needs a nerf. Just making the argument that nobody should get in melee range of someone wielding the equalizer, as if THAT is the best solution, is backing up the argument it is overpowered.
