Griefing/micspamming/votekick abuse
#1

Hi SourceOP, I am an occasional player on your instant respawn 2fort server in the wee hours of the morning. I main Heavy and am good enough to get accused of hacking pretty regularly. I struck someone's nerve over the last few hours, because eventually two players appeared with my name and proceeded to both micspam and perform some mild griefing.

After enduring this for quite a while, a teammate I am previously acquainted with via the server got the ball rolling on votekicking them. After several failures, one player was kicked. The other one turned out to be the main micspammer. After a couple failed attempts to votekick this second player he used the momentum to start a couple votekicks against me, which ended up succeeding.

I have done my share of submitting bans and the like in other TF2 communities and prefer to have demos as proof, but wasn't really thinking about it at the time. The only proof I can give is the Steam ID's/HLStatsX pages of my two clones: Sorry, but someone with the capability will have to sift through the server logs to validate my story.

It looks like they might be playing through proxies. Judging by their stat pages they don't really do anything but grief by taking peoples' names and getting them kicked. Apparently they got the player who started the votekicks against them kicked soon after they got me kicked.

Just because he was an utter crybaby cunt on the server, I don't really feel bad reporting that Codeseven was the player not taking too kindly to getting owned by a "newb" and is the most likely culprit behind the two players griefing me/my team. I don't know if you can do some sort of IP check to see if he's linked to the other guys.

Finally I'd like to briefly express my general frustration with the votekick system. Just like every "press a number to choose the next map" system, players usually just vote before they look at what the text says. I realize lowering the vote success threshold to something like 50% could result in any random unwarranted votekick succeeding, but making players press 1 or 2 to vote while cycling through their weapons is not an effective way to get servers to moderate themselves... especially when assuming the entire other team will vote 'no' because they don't have to listen to micspam or deal with the griefing. Can't the system be changed so players will be petitioned to press some other out of the way number keys to vote?

All of this aside I've had a lot of fun on your 2fort server! Thanks in advance for the help.
