Teams shouldn't be punished for working together, rather, players should indeed be punished for waiting on spec to join a certain team. While I wont shy away from picking the better team (usually the team with the regs who play medic well) I don't sit on spec to wait to get on the winning team like a douche.
The problem is that few players actually understand the mode when they come in. These are your non-regulars who are new to the game. They are essentially worthless in relevance to the gamemode, more so than say CTF. At least in 2fort, defending your base is defending your base. Not so in payload maps. It takes a total team effort.
Id like to see a votable scramble added, and the auto-kick after 60 seconds on spec or whatever.
The teams usually stack because one side ends up with all the players who know how to play payload, and the other side doesnt. I don't think that is the fault of the server, rather, the fault of valve and the mode itself. I constantly have to yell "no fucking SGs. get on the damn cart" and yet still snipers are playing their little game. Engineers are wandering around the backfield with 20 seconds to go, tending to their SGs.
It gets old. So forgive people who want to play with competent players.
