I agree with DF with most of what he has to say. I've been here for quite a long time as well. From what I noticed, it is stacking that empties out the servers. This game is about competitive play and team work of course. If you truly ask any of the regulars, why the server empties out so fast, it's always due to the rage quitting from the non-stacked team.
The issue is and isn't with the current auto-scramble. The way its setup, it's just purely randomizing the teams. What you need are "more" even teams. In theory, it would be better if they had originally made it or could make it based off of both server rank and KPD. I've noticed that when games are highly competitive to the point where it goes back and forth, people tend to stay and play longer. The moment one team keeps rolling another team, the rest of the team rage quits. It's also, usually a lot of the regulars that bitch, complain, and belittle those that are new or not the of the norm.
Some may say that they mainly want to play with their friends, but more or less I've seen people in-game fine when the teams are balanced and are playing against their friends. My friend's list is full of regulars and we play against each other all the time. I don't hear them complaining that we're not on the same team. It's about building up a larger group of regulars again since others have left. It's, as retarded as it sounds, the "circle of life" for the servers. Removing the auto-scramble may appear appealing for the moment and may spark some temporary interest, but I don't believe it will maintain as a foundation for keeping the server strong.
My 2 cents.
