If pings didn't matter there wouldn't be any in the first place. There's clear-cut reasons as to why there are filters and the option to put a ping limit on servers. Anyone who's played fps long enough knows that 250+ ping is unacceptable no excuses. Anyone who's played fps competitively knows that you order servers near you because of ping... High pings = warping/lagging, it's just that simple. No reason there shouldn't be a 250 limit, some servers have 150-200. Competitive servers have ~120...
All this talk about ways to improve the servers etc and yet this one is transparently clear. Try playing at 1-7 am est and you'll see plenty of people ruining the fun for others because of it.
I really don't see any reason to support not having a ping limit, unless you enjoy the non-english speaking players or those who intentionally warp to benefit their play.
Throw up a vote; you'll see that your regulars and pretty much the top 20-30 players that join your server on a daily basis would agree with me, the majority of them are on my friends list. -_-
