I'm not the most vocal member of the community, but I thought of making an exception in this case.
A few days ago I was considering joining a bit later in the evening, and was shocked to find the server completely empty before 11 PM EST. Looking at the server history for that day, it had been active for less than two hours. It's a tribute to the community that we can fill this server at all, when often it has to be done from scratch within a specific window, but obviously that can only last for so long.
I would echo all the suggestions made in this thread, but to add a few of my own, is it at all possible to make a completely random map rotation? Perhaps by the ending of a map, we can instead have an option to vote from five random selections from a larger list. And if the results are poor, a system that lets a map be nominated would also be welcomed. And while I'm on the subject of voting, moving the voting from 1 and 2 to perhaps anywhere from 6-0 would be great. I'm sure I'm not the only who's been screwed over by a sudden map vote.
Being allowed to vote for a scramble might help, particularly when one team completely drubs the other on payload maps or multistage maps. If the stronger team is on offense, the next few phases feel like a slog for the defending team.
I don't know enough about custom maps and how they work on 32 player servers to make a suggestion, but I do think Junction should be removed. Hydro and Turbine can feel like a chore, but they have their place I think. I've never looked forward to playing a game on junction though. Aside from the engineer issue, it's just too small a map for 32 players.
That's about all I can think of at the moment. I'm hoping for the best.
