I think they do in a very general sense, actually. The more you do those things, the more points you get.... generally.
Really I've changed my mind about the points for healing. I think it is a really good idea and probably should have been implemented from the start. The current system gives you ample opportunity to rise in stats as a medic faster than other classes once you get a feel for it (140 hours medic for me, too). So adding healing points is overkill IMO.
Just need some kind of comprimise. Right now medics rely majorly on kill assists. So maybe drop down kill assist points from 4 to 3 (still more than a regular kill assist) and get one point every 400 health healed or whatever.
