There are 100+ dota heroes. Right now the store has just started with only about 10 hero items incorporated. There will be thousands of items in the future and yes you can buy all the items but all the items in the store will drop too be it common weapon to Rare items. Just give it time and it will surpass TF2

I've already said this, and I'll say it again. I highly doubt the item trading aspect of Dota 2 will ever become as large as that of TF2. For one thing, the cosmetic change is extremely hard to notice, given that most of the game is played from a drawn-out perspective. Also, Dota 2 is much harder to get into than TF2, which will limit the amount of new players, especially who will spend enough time to be able to get said items. That's another issue I see with Dota 2. The fact that you have to actually get better to earn items, while more logical, will only deter those who aren't particularly good at the game from earning items.
