I'm trying to get my friend into TF2, but she can't start it, she's ran it before, but now all it says is "hl2 has stopped running", she's tried rebooting and restarting steam, no dice.

most likely pc problems ask her what she is running on :roll:

Never hurts to "Verify integrity of game cache" or see if your graphics card drivers need updating. And knowing WHEN the game actually crashes (either at the start up or while in-game) would help.

I'm having same issues on certain maps after I updated my graphics drivers. Changing settings on graphics drivers works for a little bit but then it keeps going to hl2 has stopped running for me after I exit TF2 and try to enter again.
