Recent admin abuse
#21

Being rejected by doing your role, and by people you trusted isn't enough to quit? Having admin powers is such a horrible stress ... good thing admins are hardly on 2fort.

He did give away a lot of items a day or so ago. If he had his admin removed that is total idiocy.

Versed only had kick/ban/gag. He had no abilities to do anything else, contrary to the ridiculous accusations made by a small group of "regulars" on the server. FYI: We also have no ability to give ourselves credits or any "admin hacks" within the system of the game.

Also, the regulars do not have to "take matters into their own hands" because I am there on a regular basis. You are able to handle most matters with the votekick feature which is a fabulous addition that DF added to all of the servers so there is really no reason for me to step in on something you're handling on your own.

If there is a problem and you don't notice an admin around, there's a nifty little stickied post right above this one that explains what to do. It pages my phone.

However, many on that server are ignorant to the fact that I do not have to be in-game on the server to watch the server. After reading and hearing chats complaining that there were not admins there, I started to speak up more to let you know I'm there. Some of the regulars have been smart enough to add me to Steam friends as well and it's great fun chatting with them. I have made some new friends, for sure.

Generally it's my policy to avoid disrupting the server with my presence as much as possible so I just watch silently and laugh at you a lot.

If you guys are just feeling lonely, I'm happy to join in the convo. We can even sing Kumbaya or The Pokey Pony or something.

I respect and appreciate all of the suggestions given by players on SourceOP. At this time, I don't recommend giving a regular of PropHunt any admin abilities, especially with some of the things that I have witnessed take place between some of the regulars. There's also no need for additional admins there at this time. Should that change in the future, you can bet that I have been watching you all closely and will share my recommendations with DF regarding who might make an appropriate admin.

It is my experience that a small percentage of "regulars" just don't like the idea of an authoritative figure stepping in on their "turf". There is a hierarchy system that takes place on PropHunt, with players using credits as a status symbol and Played Time as a promotion system for leaders. I respect that community, just as you do and I try to disrupt it as little as possible.

However, any behaviors or actions that harm the server or its members, disrupt the spirit of fun and the safe environment that makes PropHunt an enjoyable server to play on are subject to admin actions. I rarely ban players (it tends to take the fun out of the game). However, when I do, you can bet that it is for a good reason and you can post all the hate threads you want here and it will not change a thing.

Woraug's complaints do not hold a lot of weight with me due to the fact that I have received several complaints against him as well as witnessed some borderline inappropriate behaviors. I also witnessed Versed warning him and then taking action against him for such inappropriate actions so my impression is that this thread is just retaliation over dislike for being banned. It's ok; most people don't like to be banned. That's why it's effective as a disciplinary action.

Although it is for a negative reason, I am happy to see more members of PropHunt visiting these forums. Spending some time to browse around might make you more familiar with the community you are a part of and more aware of the fact that we are not out to get you and that I am, in fact, on your side when it comes to keeping SourceOP spam-free, hacker-free and fun to play on.

I agree with IP on just about everything you said there. Though, just to clarify, I had started speaking to other players and trying speaking to versed several days before I posted this.

I also agree that PH does sometimes need admin intervention, most of the time we police ourselves pretty well.

I have at times gone a bit overboard with some comments and come off as being insulting, where it was not intended.
