Not anymore stupid than it just happening automatically. At least with a vote there is some degree of choice. Right now, if a team gets rolled the first round they don't bother to adapt or make tactical changes. They lay down in hopes of a better team with the autoscramble! Thats what is STUPID!

For one, I haven't been on the sourceop servers quite as long as many of you. I believe bloo is one of these members, who has not only been around the servers/community longer, and has logged more time than anyone with over 160 days on the servers. As far as I know, bloo gets along with everyone, makes many friends and no enemies. I myself have logged less than half the time as bloo, with a little more than 60 days. Although I have not logged as much time as many of, I've logged enough time, and played enough rounds with bloo to know that he doesn't complain about much. I've never heard him complain about anything. When his team is getting rolled, I've never seen him complain or switch teams, even before auto-scramble. I've seen him get team switched to the team thats getting rolled, and again, he just plays. He doesn't try to switch back to the team that was winning, or complain.

This was a first. Bloo, the guy who plays most on this server has a rare complaint. Bloo basically makes the same argument I previously made in this thread. Teams who lose don't bother to change or adapt, just rely on autoscramble. I'm guilty of this too. My team gets rolled the first round, and although I could tell my team what I think we need to change, such as classes or medic crits to uber etc.. I don't try anymore, since by the time I get 1 or 2 people to get on board (switch class, or w/e), when we really need 3-4 people to change class/tactic, we lose the second round, my team is scrambled, or I get scrambled. Now the teams composition, and class balance have changed.

Auto-scramble really needed?:
There are times where I've seen teams that were so one-sided, a scramble was the only way to make it competitive, or was it?

I've played a few rounds before, where my team is so one sided, I'm thinking we could all go spy and win on a push map etc. Remarkably, those rounds are the ones that stand out in my mind, not because my team and I rolled the other, but because we lost...

Under my team, I see the top 7-8 are all SOP regulars, people you might think would have to be on separate teams to keep it balanced, many on my friends list, a few not on my friends list, but players I recognize as solid playing usuals. Alarmed at not only why we are not rolling through, let alone losing, I scan the other team. What I find at times is that I don't recognize one name on the other team. Not to say that I know all good players that come on the servers, but I've spent enough time to know a large chunk of them. It's not uncommon for me to get on V1 during the early evening and recognize (or friendlisted) more than half of the people in the server. So is it team composition?

The answer is: sometimes. Sometimes our team looks better, and have decent class mix and we still lose. I don't have a definitive answer as to why this is, only a few guesses. Maybe the "better" more "known" players aren't playing aggressive enough, being afraid to die. Maybe all of my teams good players are playing off-classes. Not saying I'm good at any class, but I'll use myself, since I don't want to make fun of someone else. Example: if anyone has seen me play soldier, its laughable. I'm sure some people play soldier better than me their first day playing. At any-rate, we lose two rounds in a row, and get scrambled. My team trades a few of the people on the bottom of the scoreboard, for a few on the top of theirs, who were pushing hard. Now our team has talent and meat shields, autoscramble just made it worse.

Voting could be an interesting compromise, but would that still lead to reliance on autoscramble instead of adjustments to tactics?[/b]

No, I just think that given his history, his opinion and comments should be taken with more weight than someone who has an opinion on every thread and hardly actually plays.

This is why I don't play arena or tf2 for that matter. These people have the awareness of a blind statue.

My goal isn't to attack you personally, but I think subjects of game-play, should be discussed amongst the people who play the game. You're commenting on this thread, yet you may lack frame of reference, and don't have to deal with the outcome.

I think that there should be consideration of who says what and how they vote, not just what was said and the total votes.

Also if any of you ever have the displeasure of hearing him talk you'll quickly come to understand that he is on a level of angsty nerd-virginry that is reserved solely for the angstiest and nerdiest of the virgins.
