I just ordered these parts via newegg for around 800 dollars. Will these parts be decent for future/current games?
Sapphire hd 6950 2gb OC
Intel core i5-3550 ivy-bridge 3.3ghz turbo boost to 3.7
8gb vengeance ram
Western Digital Caviar Blue WD5000AAKX 500GB 7200 RPM 16MB Cache SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive -Bare Drive
Some HP cd-drive
600 watt power supply
Cooler master ATX half tower
ASUS P8Z68-V LX LGA 1155 Intel Z68 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s

RAM's a bit low, IMO. Hard drive is your biggest bottleneck though. Spend a little more and get a SSD for your OS.
I'm curious why you bought a motherboard with integrated graphics if you're going to be using a dedicated card.
I think you could have done better for $800. But yeah, with a few tweaks it should be game-worthy.

8 gigs of ram is more than enough for anything. And boards without integrated graphics are generally gaming-grade stuff that are more money.
It also gives you that diagnostic option if your gpu was ever having problems.

Motherboards have integrated graphics? I thought the cpu came with the integrated graphics not the motherboard.

I'm currently using 18/24 gigs right now. I can't imagine getting by with just 8 gigs. :?
You're right about the diagnostic option, I hadn't considered that. But since he was asking about his specs for a gaming rig, it seems curious that he wouldn't get a motherboard more oriented to that. (If they're more expensive, it's only because they have additional features. Removing the parts required for integrated graphics brings down manufacturing costs and thus lowers the overall price slightly.)

The CPU supports integrated graphics, but the motherboard itself traditionally has the graphics chip onboard. There are some newer CPUs that have integrated graphics built in, especially with AMD. Either way, the motherboard will still have to have the physical ports.
Wikipedia has some good info on it.

Not everyone is going to get the best of the best. Like omega said 8 GB is more than enough, if anythiing invest more on the graphics card side that's probably the only one that's lacking for future proof and demand from games.
