Prop 8 in Cali
#21

I'm gay, and the only choice I see is to either fake being straight, or deal with this crap for being who I am.

It's not really a choice, no matter what you say. You don't know shit until you suddenly get hit with that "Oh god. I don't like women, I like men." thing.

omega dearest, you are not understanding the fundamental issue with your situation being compared to ours, so i will spell it out.

anyone can PARTICIPATE or NOT PARTICIPATE in homosexual ACTS, as a CHOICE.

no one can CHOSE or DECIDE on sexual ORIENTATION.

sexuality is likely chemical or genetic in nature, and is most certainly a complex trait that involves much much more then the involvement of a single component. it likely derives from conditions both biological and otherwise, both paternal and societal.

one thing is for certain:
no person who has developed the cognitive where-with-all to understand human sexuality, is in a position to decide or change the outcome of their sexual orientation.

so omega, if you were gay, you will always be gay. you can always chose to never act on it, but the feelings and desires? - either they were never there, or they will never leave.

As a rare occasion i will be serious here:

I would hope, honestly and with my entire heart, that SOMEDAY people everywhere will rid themselves of this illogical, fear-based, archaic christian morale system, and the Last Minority will take there place as equal and proud members of America and the Human Race.

(yes, im gay, and i don't give a fuck about the further opinions of anyone who cannot wrap their heads around FUNDAMENTAL HUMAN RIGHTS AND EQUALITY)

I don't care about Gay people, I really don't.

I respect their choices because they are people too.

I just think that it's funny as hell that most of the people that are so adamant about gay rights/marriages....are closet homosexuals.

Honestly, I disagree. I was exclusively homosexual and I no longer have any desires of homosexuality, I rarely even think about it when I'm talking about the issue.

I would also like to clarify that I have nothing against homosexuality, or homosexuals, and I never have. I even have a few friends who are gay. As I never admitted to anybody that I was gay, so I don't know what it is like to deal with it socially, especially because I have never and a physical or intimate relationship with another male.

I'm just curious as to how old you were when you thought you were exclusively gay. For all I know it could have been the whole "wanting to experiment" thing.

In my experience, I just found myself losing interest in women more and more as I got older. Now I find the female body disgusting. I don't really think of it as a choice... you might be different because you managed to "change", but given the information, I just think it was one of those "growing phases."

And I don't think you have anything against gays. Smile You may be blunt, but you aren't a tool. I just think that you're wrong, as someone who's finally accepted he was gay.

Homosexuals are mostly the nicest people around.

You can actually engage a decent conversation with them on anything, either IRL or internet, without elusive sex references.

This amazes me.

Anywayyyyyy, just move to canada.

We have poutine :}
