UGC Highlander starts Jan 23rd. SourceOP needs a team(s?) -
Fixhotep - Jan 03, 2012
The heart of UGC Highlander is with the communities. So many of our teams formed from a group of friends who played together on a community server. My team formed exactly this way. We were just a bunch of pubstars on FFN, and we decided to give Highlander a shot. 1 year later and we are still having a blast.
Which is why I am hoping SourceOP can put together one or two teams and have representation in our league. This is a huge community, and i'm sure so many of you want to try your hand at it. Now is the perfect time to do so...
With Season 5 coming to an end a couple weeks ago, Season 6 is just around the corner! Preseason starts Jan 23rd and registration officially closes on Jan 30th. This is plenty of time to get your team together and get a few scrims under your belt! And UGC can help!
For more information and registration
Not familiar with Highlander play? Highlander is 9v9; one of each class. Classes that are rarely used in 6v6, such as spy, engie and pyro, are essential for a great Highlander Team.
Check out these matches from the recent UGC season:
ExJedi vs Wonderbolts - Platinum playoffs on Granary
Gun Runners vs Gangsta Gang Gaming - Platinum Semi-Final on Upward
ExJedi vs Lonely Hearts on Gravel Pit
BRBU vs DMS on Yukon
There are plenty of teams recruiting; visit the
UGC recruitment forum if you would like to try your hand at some competitive play.
Or if you have what it takes to start your own team with your friends, UGC can help. Many leaders from veteran Highlander teams volunteer their time to assist new teams in getting started and provide advice throughout the season.
Contact Fixxxer for more information or if you have any questions about the registration process.
**Prizes**
This is a free league, but that doesn't mean there aren't any prizes!
Teams get official unique in-game medals for participation, and even nicer medals for finishing well. Winners will also receive keys.
And lastly, UGC will be raffling off 9 unusuals this season: 1 for each class. To be eligible, you must be a member of an active team.
Again, please visit
here for more information and registration

I've tried to get this going with the Nemu's community in the past to no avail. I'd be down with a sourceop team, or at least for some scrimming.

I don't think it ever got anywhere.
Some of the members of Sourceop do have teams.

UGC is a joke. the admins are just a circlejerk of incompetency that bans competition.
they banned a player so that a match would be overturned so an admin's team wouldnt have a spot on their perfect record. an admin told one team that they were no longer welcome just because they couldn't field 9 players for a match.
one of the admins doesnt even play the game, yet his opinion is injected into every league decision. 5 of the admins were all on the same team.
they think that it's OK for it to take four or more players to take down a wrangled sentry and refuse to ban it. they think the vocal minority that posts on their forums is a good sample of the players in their league.
also concerning their prizes: a lot of sourceop players played in their 3rd season and we have yet to receive the prizes promised
do not expect anything but bullshit from that league

I could be wrong (I'm a new admin), but as far as i know only 1 person got banned in the past 2 seasons...

No, we did it because we were bribed with punch and pie.
Quote: 5 of the admins were all on the same team.
Admins:
Kit of rB
Inf of DesA
Hein of Exj
Sylon of DMS
Bubby of Ex
Fixxxer of gR
RedRum of TP
Forn (not on a team)
If by 5 you mean 1, then i guess so

compelling argument. but i believe i backed up my statement with facts. perhaps you should do the same.
Being unhappy with the league is fine. 200 teams. 18 players to each team. Can not please everyone. Just cant. But following me around to different sites posting lies kinda says a lot about you.
still waiting on those alleged steam IDs.

They're not lies if they're true. And I'd hope an organization such as yours would actually keep track, you know, of things like Steam ID's.
In any event, just search for UGC here and you'll see the team.

Ah, my good friend Wombraider. Always a pleasure to read your forum posts. I see you are still upset for getting permanently banned from our forums for trolling, unsportsmanlike behavior, and general rudeness towards players and admins.
You, as always, over simplify issues making them completely one sided against us and in your favor. You have little understanding of the reasons behind things so I will try and help you understand them a bit better.
"they banned a player so that a match would be overturned so an admin's team wouldnt have a spot on their perfect record."
The only banned player in our league was banned for cheating, period. It had nothing to do with playing against an Admin's team. I really hate to dissapoint you but there is no conspiracy other than the one you created in your head.
"an admin told one team that they were no longer welcome just because they couldn't field 9 players for a match."
The team you are referring to, Wonderbolts, forfeitted a UGC playoff match because they wanted to scrim for an ESEA 6s match which occured 3 hours later. They lied to us during that event, as well as being under a probation of sorts for other rule violations during the season. They were told they were not welcome back if they are going to continue breaking our rules and forfeitting playoff matches. They dropped, but guess what? They reformed under a new name, Tangerine, with a new leader and promised to do better this time around. They were welcomed with open arms.
"one of the admins doesnt even play the game, yet his opinion is injected into every league decision."
You are referring to the leader of the league who owns the league, the website, and everything. He has been administrating TF leagues for over 8 years and has lots of valuable insight to contribute. Hes got kids, a busy life, and does not have enough time to play on a team. It actually works out well to have someone not on a team because he is available to help teams with problems on match nights because all the other admins are busy with their own matches. You're statement shows me you have little understand of how to run a successful competitive league.
"5 of the admins were all on the same team. "
This claim has already been proven false in another post.
"they think that it's OK for it to take four or more players to take down a wrangled sentry and refuse to ban it."
Yep, we refuse to ban it. Same with the only other popular highlander league - ETF2L. They ban zero weapons whereas we actually ban 3-4. Plenty of people in our league enjoy our liberal banning philosophy and this has actually been one of the reasons so many new teams are joining.
" they think the vocal minority that posts on their forums is a good sample of the players in their league."
Hmm since you were a vocal minority on our forums are you actually trying to say we shouldnt listen to you? If that is the case then we already dont.
"also concerning their prizes: a lot of sourceop players played in their 3rd season and we have yet to receive the prizes promised "
i just checked their roster
http://steamcommunity.com/groups/StackOP and all of them got medals. Another one of your claims proven false.
"do not expect anything but bullshit from that league"
Sorry you still feel this way. You are welcome back at any time once you start acting like an adult and be respectful and constructive when you present critisicm.
And lastly, if our league is so full of bullshit, why do we have over 200 teams signed up for the next season?
