Skins plausible? - Issues - Dec 27, 2006

Hello guys... It has been a while... I heard SOP is up and running again and I am very glad that is so. I heard df was actually working on it again and I rembered the days of adminOP where there were a plethora of custom skins. I was wondering if skins were too hard to make with the new engine beacuse they take so much detail or are they still practical? Could you just make low quality skins that are funny?

I searched and didn't see a post, sorry if this is a re-post. = )

P.S. Naq ... my wallpapers are still better than yours.

I think it would be about 20-60megs a skin, due to the high-res models you would have to be downloading, and that is assuming that steam(ing pile of crap) would let you. i would go check, but im posting this from my Playstatoin3 and cant actually look at the files

um i have seen plenty of skins for hl2, the problem is that in order to get a skin to work, both the server and the client need the files

We did the same thing on AdminOP for TFC, but you would need to download the skins from the server, and the HL2 skins are too big for something like that.

I think df is still looking into it. I think the best we could do till FF would be to just have people change into the ones just from hl2.
