My account just got hacked for the 2nd time in 2 months. I followed all the proper safety procedures - changed my password, e-mail address, verified my e-mail address, kept my account info safe. And it still happened again. My account was left logged in to my computer over the night and it was gone when I woke up. My hard-earned money is now being used by Aleksander in Slovenia to play CS:S. He changed my handle to Darknes1Lord and edited the Steam profile to say "LOL." I already contacted Steam with the proper info to get my account back. I know he's just one of many, but if anyone has any ideas on how to make his life miserable, let me know.

You sounds like a security hole. I hope you don't work for any company that lets you access sensitive information. Anyway, here are some suggestions in no specific order:

(â˜žï¾Ÿãƒ®ï¾Ÿ)â˜ž Change your email's passwords and personal questions (make sure that somebody that knows you couldn't know the question by knowing you, I.E. if you have any inside jokes with yourself)

(â˜žï¾Ÿãƒ®ï¾Ÿ)â˜ž Reformat your operating system.

(â˜žï¾Ÿãƒ®ï¾Ÿ)â˜ž Install a firewall and leave it on. (Pro-mode: buy a router. If you have a router configure it properly.)

(â˜žï¾Ÿãƒ®ï¾Ÿ)â˜ž Use a program similar to noscript if you are prone to clicking on stupid websites.

(â˜žï¾Ÿãƒ®ï¾Ÿ)â˜ž Keep your antivirus up to date, scan everything, don't trust anyone.

(â˜žï¾Ÿãƒ®ï¾Ÿ)â˜ž Make your passwords something less stupid. Make them something like 10 digits of random characters, print them out and don't store a digital copy, keep them somewhere safe. Change them monthly.

(â˜žï¾Ÿãƒ®ï¾Ÿ)â˜ž Don't access your email or steam account from anywhere but your own systems. You can never be 100% sure of the security of any system but your own.

(â˜žï¾Ÿãƒ®ï¾Ÿ)â˜žDon't store your passwords on your computer. (yes, this means having to type in your password every time you log on to skype/steam/messenger/email)

I would normally take your first paragraph as a personal attack at me, but considering you posted all that information, I think it's time we hugged it out! lol I actually do everything you said. I'm the one who has to keep telling my family about keeping things safe and end up working on their computer because they weren't careful. I appreciate the information!

Did you hear about the MASSIVE security flaw that was found in Adobe Flash Player recently? Lots of people are exploiting it, could be something to do with that. Even if it isnt, upgrade to the beta version of flash player since if doenst have the flaw (unless they updated the current version to fix the flaw now, havnt checked)

Why haven't you made the account email locked?=/ Make it so they can only change the info via YOUR email. Also as oza said dont use a stupid password that someone could just guess and make sure your secret questions aren't too easy for anyone who knows you.

Edit: I told LMA and the other emc'ers and he removed the account from EMC steam group till you get it back.

use firefox and noscript and disable java and use avast, also a legit OS helps so does not using public "or others" wifi.
