There are a lot of people who do not play anymore but just login and logout to keep their stats active. They do not play because each time they die, they lose 25 points to the new people.
However, I do not propose resetting the stats on a regular basis. The global stats does it quarterly and can be tracked inside the server.
My suggestion is.... Every other week, reduce everyones score by 5%.
This will force all the people who are not playing to play to maintain their score. If someone has a score of 100K, they will lose 5000 points. To make up this score, they will have to play and not just logon/logoff. It will lead to a better ranking in the long run. Someone who really wants to have a high score will have to play frequently enough to maintain it.
I was going to suggest 10% but that might be a little too drastic. However, please keep it atleast 4 to 5%.

Players that are worried about their hlstats score are suspect to being complete wangs and cheesedicks. If these sorts are not playing, how is it hurting anyone?
I would stay away from mechanics that force a more-than-likely situation of shithead tactics (stacking, pocket-medic BFF) to support an asinine playing motive (arbitrary point awards), as apposed to say, having fun.
