As few of you may know/remember I killed my laptop with a glass of milk. It was on, I spilled milk on it, it turned off right away. I did everything you are suppose to do like unplug it, take off the battery, turn it upside down and dried the inside with compressed air. With no sign after a week it magically turned on, but I have been told that the milk is going to effect the metal and eventually it is going to die. If anyone is kind enough to inform me if this could happen, and if yes then how long do you think? Its been running for almost two months know after it revived itself. Thanks!

the only thing you wouldn't want is for something to be left over to corrode the metal

I'd be worried about components/connections rusting/shorting, but I would've expected that by now if it was ever going to happen.

It was a big glass of milk, and it went right onto the keyboard, so I am pretty sure some got in there. But I did everything you are suppose to do when you get a spill so I think I'm pretty good. Its been running pretty fine, Im just nervous its going to just die one day.

if there's corrosion on the board, you could try scrubbing it, or re-emerging it in water and then re-drying it.

turn your computer off and open it up
take a paper towel dampened with ethyl (not isopropyl) alcohol and wipe down every bit of silicone in the machine and everything else you want to. Ethyl alcohol doesn't leave a residue and isn't conductive or corrosive to metals, plastics, nor rubbers. Let it dry for a minimum of 5 hours and you'll be set to go.
please note that i've done this to many computers/gaming consoles with ease and good results, but i am NOT responsible if you fuck something up somehow
and this is also how the car dealership i worked at cleaned car's ecu

This. Asap. Back up often. I lost 8 years of information because a harddrive crashed before I could back up after I spilled water on it.
