Basic Spray Help? - RoyaleBeast - Aug 09, 2009

Ok so im trying to make some sprays for Gmod and TF2 witch each require different files. (TF2 .vtf) (Gmod Many Types). What i need help with is when i make a spray in photo shop the transparency only stays if i save it as .png. Sadly Gmod doesnt support .png and when i try to save as other types the transparency goes to white. How do I make it stay transparent. Also if I do get it to stay transparent will i be able to just import into the .vtf editor and export as is for TF2.

Save as a .png to keep your transparency and then go to a site like http://www.coolutils.com/Online-Image-Converter.php to convert to the file you want while preserving the transparency.

Then import to VTF Editor, save as .vtf, make sure your sizing and resolution is correct for sprays and import to TF2 as you normally would.

(Saving as .gif from PS should usually keep your transparency as well but sometimes you lose quality of the image)

Which part are you referring to? The file you get from where?

Basic Spray Help? - Teh_Spy - Aug 10, 2009

Save it as .tga and then convert it to .vtf in VTFEdit?

...a while back. Its a fairly detailed explanation on how to make sprays for HL2 that have an alpha channel - etc for transparency. It utilizes Photoshop and VTFedit.

Hope this helps!
